  Bert and Florrie bought a piece of land in Brasted Chart, just outside the village of Brasted, immediately after the Second World War. They first built some large garages on the land and lived in them while they attempted to build their own house. The land may have been called 'Cobs Lea' and there were certainly a number of cob trees on the plot. It is unclear whether the project was ever completed. After her divorce, Florrie went to live in Sevenoaks, ran an antique shop for a while.
