  We know little about Emma except that she married a successful and enterprising German butcher G.L.Rengert and had 13 children with him. We have no idea how they met. She must have had her hands full as a wife and a mother for many years. The two key facts given to us by census records are that she was born in Hertford in about 1846, that her mother’s married name was Sarah A. Warren. Sarah was born in about 1804 in Ipswich, so there is a Suffolk connection somewhere. Emma’s father has not been found yet and we have no records of her birth or baptism. The earliest census in which she appears is that of 1871, four years after her marriage to Georg L Rengert. The International Genealogical Index has an Emma Warren baptised at St Andrew's, Hertford on 7 July 1844, daughter of Edward Warren and Sarah Clamp Ennew. The date of birth does not fit, so we must discount them for now. There is an Emma Warren (4) on the 1851 Census born ca. 1847, daughter of John & Hannah Warren. She was born in Ware, Hertfordshire and was sharing a house with her parents John (35) and Hannah (28), and siblings Rebecca (7) and Henry (1). The date and location are about right, but there is no further evidence to confirm that this is her family. The middle name Susannah is taken from her burial record but does not appear elsewhere.
